This a very rare recording from 1890 of Russian composer Peter Tchaikovsky and his buddies fucking around with an Edison wax cylinder, which was super high tech shit at the time. Why do I get the feeling that if Tchaikovsky were alive today, he'd be uploading one video after another to YouTube where he's making goofy faces and twirling his mustache while talking in silly voices? 25 years ago today, the USSR celebrated the 67th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. If the October part seems confusing, the revolution took place on October 25th on the Julian calendar, which is actually November 7th on the Gregorian calendar. Anyway, this was a massive holiday, and a real point of pride for the communist government. If communism produced one thing, it was the ability to make huge parades.
