Drew Curtis didn’t become the next governor of Kentucky, but dammit he tried

Even before the final results were in last night, it was clear that Fark founder Drew Curtis wasn’t even close to winning the governor’s race in Kentucky. His campaign, like all political campaigns had its ups and downs– there were times early on when it felt like he might have the momentum to pull it off or at least come close. He had a strong internet campaign, he had celebrity friends Wil Wheaton and Adam Savage in his corner, he showed Republican Matt Bevin and Democrat Jack Conway what it looked like to have a brain and to have a solid grasp on the issues; he was impressive in the two debates he was invited to and he wrote an op-ed in Wired on how one day tech will end the two party system in America… and in the end, he lost. But in the end, he stood up and stuck his neck out and he did his best and he did what many dream of but few actually follow through on– he saw that change was needed, and he stepped from behind the curtain of the internet and actually made an attempt to do something about it.
